Mental Health Awareness Week with Iron Mill College

Eat Well Lecture Counselling Service

A finger holding a Dandelion

We kick-started #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek by sponsoring and attending Bloom Festival, a Mental Health and Wellbeing Festival at the Exeter Phoenix.

We were delighted to sponsor an event so close to our hearts and also to take part in chairing the panel discussions to hear and explore how people found the pandemic, and how creative processes and community helped us during the most challenging times. These talks were extremely inspirational and healing.

Next up is our online £1 donation event 'Eat Well to Feel Well' - The Gut-Brain Connection on Thursday 12th May, 7pm - 8pm BST. Did you know that 80% of our Serotonin is the neurotransmitter responsible for our mood is made in the gut by the foods we eat? This one hour workshop will demonstrate how good nutrition is not only essential for good physical health but how it is also essential to support good mental health.

Now for the top news, our campus in Poole is now running a low-cost community counselling service. We're looking forward to expanding this service to the Poole area to support the demand of people needing counselling therapy. After this service being such a success in Exeter, we're expecting to see the same results in the Dorset region. Please email counselling@ironmill.co.uk to register your interest.

We hope you manage to enjoy and reflect during #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek and to take some time for yourself, whatever that might be, whatever your soul requires.
